Lost and Found

Scrapki-wyzwaniowo are asking keys in their March Challenge, I love keys and I've got plenty of them and I need a new wall art too!
The wooden plaque measures 21 cm x 11 cm. I used my favourite 'Lost and Found' Collection - the papers and stamps and a flair button. And UmWowStudio Stencil! Also you can spot the gorgeous golden Prima Trim and of course the metal keys, the heroes of the project; PaperArtsy Rusting Powder, Distress Collage Medium Crazing, Distress Crayons and other interesting bits and bobs I thought would suit well, like the metal drawer knob!

The spring is definitely in the air!

Good afternoon,
I read a post  'Anyone for a cup of tea' over at Stamps & Stencils Blog and I thought it was a brilliantly good idea and I instantly wanted to make something similar. I happened to have a large teacup (the decor one!) and a straw nest, Finland moss, raffia and a couple of wooden eggs too so me reading that post was just at the perfect time! I didn't follow all the steps though like in that post but I am more than delighted with my finished project!

At first I gessoed the cup, then started adding acrylic paints, Inka Gold, pigments mixed with varnish, also in between layers are some Gilding Flakes and Ecolines, more acrylics, stamping and at last with the brush a layer of High Gloss Varnish. The straw nest was assembled already, I just added the lace, die cut doilies, a few strings of raffia, the feathers, Finland moss, the wooden eggs and the 3D paper flower. Hot glue pen came in handy to softly glue everything together in the nest. For the eggs I used acrylic paints and Powertex 3D Balls mixed with acrylic glue and then another layer of different acrylic paint. I used the Sizzix die to make the daffodil! For it I used Fabriano Artistico Hot Pressed 300gsm Watercolour paper, painted it with acrylic paints and sponged on some ink too, plus a few sprinkles of Flower Soft Toffee for the anthers!

And here's the 'before' teacup -

Hi, how are you,
My neighbour got a new baby and here's a card I made for her! I don't have anything baby related in my stash really, just one 'vintage buggy' stamp but with some imagination I have now a cheerful and happy card, hope she likes it!

This is how it looks at the back -

And one close up too -

The power of Powertex!

As long there's more space on the walls in my house there's a reason to make even more art [;)], and I had to go with the flow because once the feeling hits me I have to start, otherwise I'll lose the moment! And I love working on canvases so a mixed media from me to share with you with various vibrant colours plus some mad texture with the help of Powertex (Bronze, Bluish Grey and Transparent) and Powertex Powercotton, Paper Decoration, Stone Art, Powercolour Pigments and the 3D Balls; and a few strips of cotton which I cut from an old clothing. So basically that 12" x 12" canvas board is all about Powertex but after drying I used quite many acrylics too. I will give it a spray or two of Gloss Varnish in week or so then it will look better with the shine.
I just had to do abstract mixed media painting, I can't really put it to words how much passion I have for abstract, there's something remarkable about just letting it go on a canvas.

I will burden you with some close ups now -

Rustic earrings!

If you want your teenage daughter to give her precious opinion to you: ''You've really lost it now!'' (lol) then make some unique earrings for yourself! She will just thank me one day for me being me, yes!!!
So I am showing you a pair of wooden earrings which I spiced up with Rusting Powder, Art Alchemy Metallique Paints, black gesso, Inka Gold, Powertex 3D Balls and Powercolour pigments. For the texture and adhering I used Gloss Super Heavy Gel and acrylic glue, and Powertex Easy Varnish for the final layer so now they should be weatherproof too. At the back they have a similar texture and colour, just without the 3D Balls.
It's something very easy to do and I might even get some more wooden earrings and see what else I can come up with! I am thinking retro now, oh maybe even a neon colour ones too ... .
Loved every minute of building them up from a plain wood. Rustic, vintage and just so sui generis.

You rock, my dear!

Hi, there's a lovely March inspiration by Mia Taninaka with Oh The Wise One over at ARTastic Challenge Blog. And the criteria is wood veneer. Good for me as I've got some real wood veneer papers, alphabet letters and others in my stash. The wood veneer inspired me and also the colours to make a fun card for my friend! The finished card measures 19,5 cm x 26,5 cm!
At first I did that abstract background on the wood veneer paper (where you see the Typewriter Stamp on top!). There I just used different acrylic paints, Rusty Patina, Antique Wax and Gel Medium and stamped on top. For the other wood veneer paper piece (the brown one) I only used Antique Wax, it changed from beige to brown beautifully, I love it. And then added all the other layers of patterned papers and corrugated cardboard and other wood veneer pieces, some adhesive enamel dots, ric rac ribbon and I call it done. It looks busy but she better love it!:)

And here's the Mia Taninaka's piece to get inspired from -
